“Remember the Troops” Donation Drive:
September 11 – November 11
“Remember the Troops” is the theme of the Central Valley Blue Star Moms’ annual package donation drive, which will run from September 11 through November 11. The goal of the drive is to create at least 350 “care packages” for local members of the U.S. military who will be on overseas deployments during the holiday season. Needed items include non-perishable snack foods, toiletries, small recreational items, and cash (to help defray mailing costs). Names and addresses of deployed service members are also being sought.
Serving far away from home – whether in Afghanistan, Iraq, North Korea, Germany, Africa, or any of our dozens of other overseas military bases – is difficult at any time of year, but most service members really long for a “hug from home” during the holidays. Something as simple as a package of soup, some powdered drink mix, sun screen or lip balm, baby wipes, fresh razors, or new deck of cards sent to one person can lift the morale of his or her entire unit. Donations of cash can help fill gaps on the wish lists or assist with shipping costs.

Please send in this form “Request for a CarePackage” to submit requests to have a package sent to a service member who will be on deployment between November and January.
Please donate anything you can to assist us in these efforts. Below you will find a list of requested items from our service members. If you would rather donate funds, in lieu of these items, please feel free to make a monetary donation to our organization. The funds we receive are used to purchase items to include in the packages or for postage to send the boxes. We are a non-profit organization.
Tuna or Chicken Creations/Lunch Kits (packages with condiments/ tuna or chicken salad with crackers), tuna pouches
Microwavable Meals that don’t require refrigeration
Cup O Soup or Cup O Noodles
Beef Jerky – Trail mix – Nuts
Small bags of chips or small packs of Pringles
Individual powdered-drink mixes to put in water bottles (Gatorade, Crystal lite, Kool-aid etc.)
Tea bags, sugar & creamer packs
David’s sun flower seeds
Protein bars (ex: Power Bars)
Fruit snacks – roll-ups – gushers – (No canned items like fruit cups)
Candy (Tootsie Rolls, dots, gummy bears, jelly beans, jolly ranchers or anything that won’t melt – no chocolate ,please!)
Gum (Caffeine Gum is a huge hit)
Small Nerf balls or footballs – Velcro Dart games
Tennis balls, Hacky sacks
Card games (Uno, Skip Bo, etc.)
DVDs – Music CDs
Crossword puzzles, word search games, etc.
Black or White cotton socks
Pre-paid phone cards
PLEASE NOTE: We are not able to send scented items or liquids, since they might contaminate food items.
